xocoyoles legend náhualt

They count those that lived long ago, that was a man who did not believe in the word of his ancestors. They told him that when falling a storm with thuders and lightning left called children xocoyoles. Xocoyoles is the children who die when being born or before being baptized. To those children they leave wings to them and they appear seated upon hills and rocky crags. They tell that those pequeñitos did different works: they watered water with great pitchers so that it rained on the Earth; others made hail they watered and it as if they were maicitos; others made thunders and lightning with mecates. For that reason we heard so strong noises and we were frightened. But the man did not believe. A day, after a great storm, went to cut firewood to a hill of ocotes. When it arrived saw a naked boy, who had two wings, obstructed in the branch of ocote. The man was surprised, mainly when the boy said to him: lf it give my mecate me that is thrown in the ground, l will cut all the firewood to you that leaves this ocote. ln you will do it to truth?- the man asked to him. Yes, in l will do it to truth. As it could, it was uniting several woods. When finishing it put mecante in the end and ocurred it. When the boy had mecate in his hands, he said to him to the man who went away and on the following day returned to gather his firewood. The man went away and xocoyol began to make rays and lightning. Ocote was broken and firewood became. When the boy finished its work went away flying to the sky to reach to its brothers xocoyoles .On the following day the man arrived at the forest and saw much accumulated firewood; he looked for xocoyol and he did not find it by any side. As of that day he began to think what their grandparents said to him.
